The concept of the therapeutic within the humanities has a long and contested history. In late Wittgenstein, the therapeutic designates a logico-linguistic practice aimed at dissolving conceptual confusions [19]. Rorty assigns to it an anti-metaphysical role, describing it as a “treatment” for representational paradigm [16]. Yet in these approaches the therapeutic remains confined to the domain of philosophical argumentation and does not reach the level of a cultural-historical regime of knowledge.
