Integrating language corpora into foreign language teaching (FLT) has yielded significant benefits. While corpora were not considered instrumental to language learning until the 1980s, scholars have acknowledged their potential in enhancing teaching and learning processes. However, their adoption has also been met with skepticism, as some linguists questioned their pedagogical value and the reliability of corpus-based descriptions. Critics have argued that while corpora offer insights into authentic language use, such descriptions should inform rather than dictate teaching practices.
